Building a Church Pt 1
The A, B, Cs, of Building a Church.
We must all know, a Church is built on two things, 1 minister, and a Vision.
To build on the foundation that Christ has laid, we must adhere to the laws of the Church of the First Born.(Revelations.)
We must seek out the will of God for the Church, and have a goal, set down as to the proper doctrine to teach.
We must also have a government in place, for the church to be able to run properly.
No man made doctrine must be allowed with in the frame work of the Church.
All our directions, and laws, come directly from the word of God.
This is the first thing, that we must promise, to do;
Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight (Superintendence; watchful care.) thereof, not by constraint(By Force), but willingly(From the Heart.); not for filthy lucre(Building a Church, or, Becoming a Minister of the Church, for the sake of payment, Money.), but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.(1Pe 5:2-3)
Neither as being lords over God’s heritage.
We are the ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We had no sacrifice to make, no payment for all sins of mankind, we neither had a Kingdom made without hands. We are not to be a king, judge, nor powerful ruler, over the church, nor the children of God, but an example to them, on the ways of Christianity. We must lead well without devisions within the church. We cannot hold on to that which we have by force, threats, or coercion, but with love, and understanding. The Church must not become a dictatorship, what we have freely received, we must freely give. Let not any man within the Church Body, be called Father, for we have only one Father, which is in Heaven.
Be an Organized Church Pianist
Playing in front of a congregation each Sunday is no easy feat. Make sure you are well prepared before giving your best for God and before others.
1) Practice the piano and more preferably the songs you will be playing early in the week and often.
2) Sing while you play so you can have a feel for how well your playing will mesh with the singing.
Is Your Church in Alignment?
The Message driven Church
By message we are not talking about The Message, but the sub-message. The message of Jesus is usually always preached and does not change, but what about the sub-message or how the message is stated?
Is the sub-message, Jesus says… or how to fix a broken world… or help for hurting people? Does your church center around the Sunday service, is this where it happens?
The down side of a message driven Church is that is least likely to change and could be least flexible.
The up side of a message driven Church is that it is a strong voice as long as the person in charge is around, but may struggle when the leader dies or moves on.
The Medium driven Church
The medium driven Church could be a church with a strong Sunday School. It could be centered on the pulpit with one strong person. It could be the choir or a bus ministry. It could also be a TV ministry.
The up side is that it could be flexible or creative.
The down side is when it fixes in on one medium or one person.
Tips For Playing Worship Piano in the Church!
I’m not going to get into the technicalities of the piano. I think you should understand one thing when it’s comes to playing worship piano songs particularly when you’re starting out. Understand that it’s not about you! You have to get this truth engrained into your head. Nothing you do, when it comes to worship, is about you. As a worship piano player your job is to help the church body worship God. As a matter of fact I think if you are going to play worship piano, you should worship God with your piano. Does this sound far fetched to you? If it does, you need to rethink why you are playing worship piano. If this does make sense to you, make sure even when you are practicing worship music, you are giving glory to God.
If you get an opportunity to play piano for your church or any church, remember who is giving you the chance to play in the first place. It’s not by accident that you are in the position that you’re in. I’ve seen to many pianists who play for the church thinking they are the best piano players that ever graced the face of the earth. Eventually they are brought back down to earth, hard. They no longer play the piano for anyone and they wish they had their position back. Pride comes before the fall. It’s true. God can put anyone who is willing and has the right heart in place of you if you are not humble. I tell you this because I don’t want you mess things up for yourself. Even if you are brand new to the piano, keep what I have said in the back of your mind.
